Equals Curriculum
Overview

It focuses on three key areas: My Communication (enhancing communication skills), My Thinking and Problem Solving (developing cognitive abilities), and My Independence (building life skills). Tailored to individual needs, it supports meaningful, personalised learning for students with severe and profound learning difficulties.
EQUALS Formal
The EQUALS Formal Curriculum is designed for learners with moderate to severe learning difficulties and disabilities. It is typically suited for students who are able to engage in more structured and formal educational settings.
EQUALS Informal
The EQUALS informal curriculum is designed to support individuals with severe and profound learning disabilities. It focuses on providing a structured and inclusive approach to education that addresses the unique needs of these learners.
EQUALS Moving On 14 +
The EQUALS Moving On Curriculum for learners aged 14+ is a specialised educational framework designed to support the transition of students with learning difficulties and disabilities into adulthood and post-school life. It places a strong emphasis on preparing students for independence, employment, and community engagement.
EQUALS Pre - formal

Engagement Model
The Engagement Model is an assessment framework used in special educational needs (SEN) schools in England to support the assessment of pupils with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). It was introduced as a pilot in 2020 and is designed to provide a more holistic and flexible approach to assessing and tracking the progress of learners with complex needs.
